Make this your “End of Summer” pic- nic and enjoy a special evening. Shrimp Fest will start at 4 p.m., Satur- day, Aug. 12 at Showboat Pa- vilion on Down- town Sixth Street in Texas City. Food will be served from 6 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. Young and old and every age in between agrees – the Chamber’s Shrimp Fest offers the whole com- munity a night to relax and visit with friends, neighbors and col- leagues. Shrimp Fest is a favorite tradition that has been held for more than 50 years in Texas City, and it draws a huge crowd. Entertainment for the evening will begin at 4:30 p.m. with Amanda Solis – Selena Tribute Singer and then finish out the night out with The Line Up. NEW THIS YEAR Enjoy walking on Downtown Sixth Street and visit the Shrimp Fest Market that will feature top- end vendors and food trucks. If you are inter- ested in being a vendor, contact the Chamber to get an inquiry form. Back by popular demand is The Kids’ Zone, featuring bounce houses and a face painter, sponsored by Shri- ners Children’s Texas. Advance meal tickets are $30 and $35 on event day. The ticket price includes a one- “It’s a shrimp thang!” pound shrimp dinner, jambalaya, corn and potatoes and two beers or soft drinks. Monica was able to speak about how to get started in the fi- nancial planning process and what “financial planning” really means and different routes to take. She had the group participate in an assessment to see how well the group was at planning their futures financially. The Young Professionals group ended by asking questions and how to better their financial health. The luncheon will be held from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the Doyle Con- vention Center. This community has been a strategic partner to the petrochemical industry since the early 20th century. It is home to the third largest concentration of crude-based refining manufacturers in the United States and the 15th largest port in the nation. There are more than 4,000 manufacturing and petrochemi- cal jobs in Texas City-La Marque. The city and community proudly support the local industries in their endurance and expansion. Attend this luncheon to hear up- dates on safety, performance, ESG (environmental, social and corporate governance) and more. TEXAS CHAMBER OF COMMERCE EXECUTIVES CONFERENCE Hear a fireside chat from local leaders T he Texas City-La Marque em- ployees, President/CEO Tim Culp, Vice President Stefanie Aldrich, and Director of Communica- tions Marielle Mascorro attended the Texas Chamber of Commerce Exec- utives (TCCE) conference in Odessa, Texas from June 27-29. There, they attended classes with other fellow Chamber of Commerce Executives and learned how to better their chamber knowledge. They learned about the importance of eco- nomic development, marketing and tips on topics to help them succeed in what they do. The group learned a lot of valuable information and is ready to apply it to their everyday work. The 2023 TCCE Media Awards were held on the third night of the con- ference. Two of Galveston County’s Chambers won awards. The TCLM Chamber of Commerce took home one award in the Social Media & Video category and one award in the Print & Electronic Publications cate- gory. The Galveston Regional Cham- ber of Commerce also took home an award in the Print & Electronic Publications category. The group was greeted at HCA Houston Health Care Mainland and heard excellent presentations from the executive team. Afterward, class members were able to tour areas of the hospital. The group also visited the UTMB Health–Pediatric & Adult Primary Care clinic in Texas City. They were treated to a delicious catered lunch and were joined by the clinic leadership group. After lunch, the class visited the Gal- veston County Health District in Texas City. The group heard presentations on public health and coastal wellness from several departments. The last stop in the session was at Memorial Hermann Convenient Care Center League City. The group heard a presentation from the executive team and also was given instructions on how to properly apply a tourniquet. The Chamber appreciates all of these local health leaders who gave valuable time to inspire, inform and motivate the members of Leadership Mainland Class of 2023!
