Since the pandemic began, the Chamber has con- ducted four surveys to find out. Surveys were done in April, May, June and mid-August. The most recent responses show an overall positive outlook, though many worries are still at the forefront. These surveys help gauge what impacts COVID-19 is having on Texas City-La Marque area businesses in terms of operations, sales, workforce and other key concerns. A total of 177 businesses have participated in the surveys. The charts on this page illustrate some of the key findings of the August survey, which was geared toward recovery tactics. We asked a few Chamber members to share their input in this month’s newsletter. Business Barometer Survey reveals positive outlook SEE SURVEY » PAGE 22 | Chamber Express | September 2020 We’ve been keeping WOOFs in tip top shape since 1981, and now we’re bigger than ever! This month marks our 39th year in business, and we have Galveston County to thank for that! Thank you for all of your support, business, and valuable referrals throughout the years. Jeff Prouty began this business with an old blue pick-up truck and his co-pilot, Shasta (left). Today, the company has grown to more than 20 team members and a fleet of trucks! Shasta has since passed the torch and allowed our 2nd generation to step in. We’re dedicated to holding onto the values that have shown us success time and time again; honesty, integrity, and compassion. Thank you for supporting our familes, and thank you for putting your trust in us! Looking forward to many more years of service! - The Prouty Family 409-945-6920 A Texas General Contractor WWW.ROOFINGTEXAS.COM 39 Years in Business SERVICING YOU IS A PLEASURE 409-948-4589 My clients say I am their “Favorite Realtor”. Our products and services, even in a pan- demic, are needed and desired.” —Randy Stang of Aggreko How do you plan to focus your marketing post-pandemic? “Do what we normally do; rely on past work and relationships for new business.” —Genevieve McGarvey of McLeod, Alexander, Powel & Apffel What would be valuable for your pandemic recovery and could the Chamber help provide resources? “Continue to empha- size to the public the importance of shopping locally.” —Sharon Gaspard of AMOCO Federal Credit Union “Marketing and getting the word out that our dental office is fully open for all services. Good reviews and friend refer- rals are a huge source of our patient base.” —Dr. Courtni Tello at Tello Smiles The August responses were more encouraging than prior survey results, and that is primarily due to the phased reopening that occurred through- out the state. But many businesses are still strug- gling with reduced sales and workforce issues. All organizations are continuing to adapt to the ever-changing “new normal.” It appears that negative impacts from COVID-19 will continue this fall and have long- term consequences. The Chamber stands ready to help area busi- nesses with marketing and promotional assis- tance, professional edu- cation and networking opportunities. We are a wellness clinic that was estab- lished in the summer of 2018 by myself. I am a physician assistant and product of Baylor College of Medicine. We have been in practice now since 2002. I am also a military veteran of 30 years, with a background in surgery, primary care medicine and in wellness/anti-aging medicine for the last several years. My medical director, Dr. James Jack- son, also is practicing in and from the area and owns a stand-alone ER, Emer- gicare, and is a graduate of Texas A&M and UTMB Galveston medical program. Our patient- and employee-centered organization is what makes us special: Our philosophy focuses on “quality employees,” “results-driven care” and “superior service.” How would you summarize what you do? We specialize in various anti-aging/ wellness medicine services that include: • Low T (Testosterone) Therapy — Men • Hormone Optimization — Women • Vitamin B12 • Weight Loss • Botox and Fillers • Spider Vein Treatment • Skin Tag Removal • Body Composition Analysis Key T Wellness is all about helping our patients unlock their true potential. Each and every patient receives a com- prehensive evaluation and is educated on a customized treatment plan best suited for their individual needs. The “one-size-fits-all” approach is not the philosophy patients should expect, and it’s certainly not what we offer. Ev- ery patient receives a personalized med- ical approach to their treatment plan. Patients are all different, each requiring a “unique and customized” treatment plan for optimum results. This is what sets us apart from many of the other providers and wellness centers out there. How has your business evolved over time? We were established in August 2018 in Dickinson and are expanding our reaches to surrounding communities in 2020 and beyond. We are increasing our personnel to meet the demand for our growing volume and anticipate fur- ther growth in 2020 to include multiple locations in the greater Houston area. What are some of your proudest accomplishments? Becoming difference makers in the community by making illness an op- tion, by focusing on wellness and by donating our time/money for charitable causes, is what sets us apart from other clinics. We have joined multiple Rotary Clubs and chambers of commerce in the surrounding communities during our short existence. What are you working on now? Not only are we currently under- way with the construction of our second location in Pasadena, but we are expanding our services to include more cutting-edge services like Peptide therapy, other modalities for deliver- ing HRT (for men/women), expanding our social media platform by bringing GoDaddy onboard, as well as working on other very exciting services (more to come on that) to the public. With the COVID-19 pandemic forcing the event to be post- poned from its original date in August, the chamber committee vowed to not let the year go by with- out having the popular event in the fall. Plus, the Shrimp Boil will be combined on its new date with the Annual Auction! There will be “hot tails and cool music” at the event. It all takes place on Friday, Nov. 13, from 6 p.m. to 10 p.m. at the Nessler Park/Rotary Pavilion in Texas City. All members are asked to consider supporting the auction by donating merchandise, gift cards and/or services. Auction donors receive great public- ity. Your generous support helps the Texas City-La Marque Chamber produce programs that foster economic develop- ment, promote tourism and improve the quality of life for the community. James Bergeron will be back for his sixth year as the Shrimp Boil master cook. It will have that true Cajun taste as James and his crew prepare the shrimp and fixins’. James owns Bergeron Craw- fish Catering which serves the Southeast Texas Gulf Coast and specializes in private residential and com- mercial events. Mark your calendar now and plan to turn out on Nov. 13 to visit with friends and colleagues and make some new connections.
