At this informative net- working event, chamber members will hear from State Sen. Larry Taylor, State Rep. Mayes Mid- dleton and State Rep. Dr. Greg Bonnen about highlights of the 87th Legislative Session that ran from January to May. Every other year for 140 days the Texas Leg- islature convenes and considers new laws gov- erning the local econom- ic well-being. Despite the logistical limitations im- posed by the pandemic health emergency and a historic winter storm that shut down much of the state for a week, legisla- tors still managed to in- troduce about 7,000 bills and resolutions. State lawmakers have debated everything from non-per- mit carry of handguns and voting laws to the ongoing pandemic and the health of the state’s electric grid. U.S. Congressman Randy Weber is also scheduled to speak. He will bring news from the Capitol in Washington D.C. This luncheon is the perfect opportunity for you to hear directly from elected officials and network with other local business leaders. Tickets are $25 per person and a reserved ta- ble for six is $250. Res- ervations can be made online at www.TCLM chamber.com, by phone at 409-935-1408, or by email to Jessica Spangle at jessica@texascity chamber.com. 2 | Chamber Express | June 2021 409-945-6920 ROOFING & REMODELING When you’re buying or selling real estate, whether it be residential or commercial, experience matters and you certainly want experienced professionals on your side when you head to the closing table.
